When I had a RAV4 there was a similar recall.
Owners were installing the all weather mats over the carpeted ones.
Caused the gas pedal to stick due to the thickness of the two mats.
The recall was for inspection to verify the mats are not interfering with the gas pedal they did nothing to redesign the mats.
Looks like this is a similar campaign to inspect for problems
Will be interesting to see if they actually change the mat design in the future
