Toyota recalls 3.8M vehicles over floor mats, Highlander not affected

Doesn't impact HL but thought that many of you, like me, might also own one of the impacted cars.

What mats are they talking about? The carpet mats or the all weather mats?

Good question, though my guess is that it a generic design flaw, so could be either carpet or all weather.

There's already a thread posted to the General Discussion forum about the recall, but I'll leave this one here so we can discuss the issue whether Highlander related or not....

We're the elite, we don't have to worry about things like this

When I had a RAV4 there was a similar recall.

Owners were installing the all weather mats over the carpeted ones.

Caused the gas pedal to stick due to the thickness of the two mats.

The recall was for inspection to verify the mats are not interfering with the gas pedal they did nothing to redesign the mats.

Looks like this is a similar campaign to inspect for problems

Will be interesting to see if they actually change the mat design in the future
